Nick works predominantly in charcoal. It is a material born of the very subjects he draws. A simple and natural substance it has been used by humans to create art and crafts for millennia.

It is this connection to our history and its organic purity that has drawn Nick to it. Using tone, form and texture to build up the intricate drawings, Nick creates a portrait of his subject that celebrates pattern, complexity, growth and history.

Through his work Nick would like to bring more thought and focus to the beauty and wonder of the ‘every day’ natural world, and with it the need for more care of our environment.
